You may not need as much bass as you think…

Many bars, nightclubs and even restaurants, make the error of overestimating their need for low-frequency reproduction. The tendency is to use large 18″ subwoofers. Perhaps as much as one for each of the mid-high cabs.

The larger the cone, the longer the wavelength it creates. A long wavelength usually extends far beyond the confines of the dance floor and the establishment. Thus potentially creating noise complaints problems from the adjoining business or residential neighbors.

To minimize this problem, it is advised that the system be designed with a greater number of, strategically placed, smaller, 15, or 12 inch subwoofers.
